The Lost Heifer
A mural of Austin Clarke’s 1936 poem ‘The Lost Heifer’. The poem uses many symbols and visual metaphors to tell the story of Irelands struggles for independence at the time of the civil war, Ireland being represented by the heifer and the fight for freedom being lost and won symbolised by the changing weather conditions. The mural is located in Croppy Park, Clonakilty, Co. Cork.
